Specialist distributor, Duxbury Networking, has introduced what it says is the first teleconferencing solution available in South Africa designed to offer the functionality and flexibility needed for use in rural clinics at the point of care.
The Clinical Presence System (CPS) was designed by Tandberg, a leading global provider of telepresence, videoconferencing and mobile video offerings, in collaboration with medical professionals in the US and Canada, in a bid to help to help developing countries increase the quality of patient care and speed the administration of life-saving treatments to remote areas.
“In South Africa, many patients in need of specialist care are often denied appropriate treatment because it does not exist at rural clinics,” says Andy Robb, chief technology officer at Duxbury Networking.
“Now, instead of having to transport a patient to a hospital, Tandberg CPS allows specialists to be instantly available at the point of care via video, helping speed the administration of medicines and life-saving treatments.”
Robb adds that the Tandberg CPS represents the next generation in video communication for the medical profession, providing the highest levels of image quality system dependability and device interoperability reflecting the specific requirements of medical professionals.
Key features of the CPS include high-definition video quality with a 12x optical zoom camera and a range of rechargeable and battery power configurations for increased mobility in areas without links to the power grid.
