Distell, a South African producer and marketer of wines and spirits, is experiencing the benefit of its implementation of the Open Text product suite (IXOS eCON and LiveLink).
IT infrastructure, solutions and services provider, Datacentrix, a local Open Text partner, has implemented various solutions for Distell in the past, including SAP R/3 legacy decommissioning, SAP Data Archiving and SAP POD scanning.
Currently the company is assisting Distell in further enhancing the scanning solutions in the Accounts Pay department and the implementation of Livelink as its enterprise content management (ECM) solution. Next year the company will implement a Livelink Exchange archiving solution.
Distell`s Credit Control (Accounts Receivable) division uses the IXOS solution to scan and access customer tax invoice images from the SAP transaction system, while the Accounts Payable division uses the software to scan and access supplier tax invoice images from the SAP system.
According to Wouter van den Heever, project manager within Distell`s IT Project Office, the use of IXOS within the accounts receivable environment now allows any Distell person with SAP access the ability to display invoices and supporting documentation.
An additional benefit experienced by Distell is the improved service to customers. "Proof of delivery documentation can be faxed to a customer from within SAP instead of having to retrieve the document from the file room first, then copying and faxing it."
Van den Heever says Distell`s decision to partner with Datacentrix for the IXOS implementation was based on the company`s successful delivery of previous projects.
"Datacentrix`s strategy and the commitment demonstrated to obtain and build skills and capability within the ECM space were key."
Distell is also implementing Open Text`s Livelink ECM Platform for the management of its electronic content and knowledge. The project kicked off in February this year and will be completed in 2007. "All 1 700 Distell PC users will eventually use Livelink as a knowledge management and collaboration solution," says Van den Heever.
