Financial services institution Discovery Holdings has deployed Tibco's messaging, business process management (BPM) and service-oriented architecture (SOA) software. This will enable it to streamline agility and service to its more than two million members across SA.

“Fierce competition, globalisation, and rapid change are driving investments in information technology to help retain customers through continuous innovation and customisation of product offerings,” says Fabio Pulidori, Tibco senior vice-president of EMEA field operations.

The deployment will be rolled out to Discovery Holdings group companies, including Discovery Health, Discovery Vitality, DiscoveryCard, Discovery Life and Discovery Invest, and will take advantage of a BPM-enabled SOA environment.

An open, integrated infrastructure is critical for ensuring the quick and cost-effective delivery and modification of applications and services that address new and changing customer requirements, explains Tibco.

During the second phase of implementation this year, Discovery will investigate the standardisation of existing operational systems on a SOA platform, using Tibco ActiveMatrix BusinessWorks.

“Efficient and integrated use of applications, services, and business processes is the lifeblood of our organisation and allows us to adapt dynamically to customer demands and respond to market forces to deliver unique value,” states Leopold Malan, Discovery Health CIO.
