Unemployed youth in Cape Town and Johannesburg looking to gain digital marketing experience can now apply for the Digify ZA training programme, which kicks off in January.
DigifyZA is an initiative of Livity Africa together with Google South Africa and the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) SA, and aims to empower young people with digital skills from the country's leading digital agencies.
Twenty young people between the ages of 18 and 25 will be selected in each city to take part in a three-month digital boot camp supported by Google South Africa and the IAB SA.
Over the course of three months, young people with the help of experienced trainers will take part in intensive training in digital marketing, social media and content strategy.
The participants are taught key Google modules, including search engine optimisation, AdWords, YouTube, and Analytics, as well as ongoing training in WordPress and/or app development.
Participants also work closely with brands, industry insiders and agencies to develop campaigns for real-life briefs and product launches.
According to Digify ZA, it has successfully placed over 60 young people in jobs with some of the country's top digital agencies and brands.
Over the past year, Digify trainees have worked on projects for MTN, Nandos, Nescaf'e, Red Bull, Kit Kat and Accenture, with graduates placed across the industry at Native XML, Blue Magnet, Aqua Online, EOH and Publicis Machine.
The deadline for the Johannesburg programme is 18 November, and 25 November for Cape Town.
