Dell unveils MCC offering
Dell is moving quickly to expand its services capabilities in the wake of its $3.9 billion purchase of Perot Systems, rolling out a healthcare solution designed to make it easier for hospital personnel to quickly access patient medical records, reports eWeek.
Dell is introducing its MCC (medical clinical computing) offering, a virtualised desktop environment that gives healthcare professionals access to patient information and applications from any device in the hospital.
The goal of the offering is to lessen the amount of time these professionals spend trying to find that right device that has the data they are looking for. Instead, doctors and other healthcare workers can get onto any device, including desktops, laptops, handheld devices and thin clients, and access the centrally stored information and applications.
Verizon intros tele-health collaboration services
Verizon has introduced a portfolio of tele-health collaboration services which enable healthcare providers to consult remotely with patients and other providers and also brings medical education and training to medical professionals, says TMCnet.
It enables healthcare administrators to avoid travel by using collaboration technology. Most often, time, distance and cost prevent patients from linking to the right healthcare expert, especially in cases where patients have to consult with doctors situated at far off places.
Verizon's Telehealth Collaboration Services will enable providers to actually see patients through video consultations and collaborations services. This is useful for physicians, hospitals, clinics and insurers, say company sources.
Panasonic offers computing incentive
Panasonic Computer Solutions, manufacturer of the Panasonic Toughbook mobile computers, has unveiled an incentive programme allowing healthcare organisations to trade-in mobile clinical assistant (MCA) devices that are not meeting their needs for $1 000 off the purchase of a new Panasonic Toughbook H1 MCA, states NewsBlaze.
"Think of this as a 'Cash for Clunkers' programme designed for the mobile healthcare technology market," says Greg Davidson, healthcare senior business development manager, Panasonic Computer Solutions Company.
"Healthcare organisations are excited about MCA technology, but have told us they are disappointed with some of the initial products because they did not meet the needs of the market from an ergonomics and durability standpoint.”
