Canadian electricity provider, Whitby Hydro, has chosen Striata as the technology provider for its e-bill presentment initiative.
Headquartered in Johannesburg, South Africa, Striata is a leading provider of e-billing technology and services in the global market.
Says Garin Toren, COO of Striata North America: "Striata has been offering secure e-mail bill presentment and payment to utilities and many other industries since 1998. We are very proud to enter the Canadian market with Whitby Hydro as our first customer and look forward to driving adoption rates in this geography."
From the end of March 2006, Whitby Hydro customers will be able to have their bill delivered in the form of a secure PDF e-mail bill. The recipient will be able to view an exact replica of their paper bill as well as link to their Internet banking for quick and easy payment.
"Whitby Hydro is continuously looking for ways to reduce billing costs while improving our customer communication. Striata's e-billing solution meets our goals while maximising customer enrolment," explains Paul Elliot, Vice-President of Customer Service at Whitby Hydro.
"When selecting a billing solution, we wanted a system that could be implemented quickly and that would capture the greatest number of customers. Striata's solution makes participation easy for customers and allows us to achieve our objectives very quickly."
Striata CEO, Michael Wright, is excited about the prospects in the North American region. "E-mail billing is an innovative concept to this enormous market, and we are already seeing the migration in focus from traditionally non-performing Web presentment infrastructures, to the more simple, and effective e-mail billing offered by Striata."
Besides the benefits to Whitby Hydro, there are many advantages to Whitby Hydro's customers including an easy click-through to Internet banking, and the additional security inherent in the e-bill process.
"E-bill delivery is more immediate than post, more cost-effective than Web presentment and provides significantly more opportunities to offer excellent customer service," Wright concludes.
