The African SAP User Group (AFSUG) is pleased to announce that Saphila, its official conference for SAP users, will take place at the Sun City Resort, in North West province, South Africa, from 09 to 11 July 2023. Supported by SAP Africa, the theme for this first post-pandemic Saphila will be ‘ASPIRE’.

AFSUG unveiled all details around Saphila 2023 at a partner kick-off event on Tuesday 29 November, attended by around 38 partners, including information on the theme and format of the conference, as well as sponsorship opportunities.

Said AFSUG Chairman, Duke Mathebula: “Saphila plays an important role in bringing SAP users from across Africa together, with SAP and local partners, to share knowledge and learn from one another’s experiences. At our last Saphila conference in 2019 more than 900 delegates gathered together, proof of how important this event is as a platform for communication, collaboration and connection for our local SAP community.”

Said Saphila chairman, Reg Barry: “Our 2023 theme ‘ASPIRE’ can be defined as ‘directing one’s hopes and ambitions towards achieving new heights and goals’. This one word aptly sums up exactly what our intention is for Saphila 2023, with AFSUG’s objective for the conference to act as a springboard moving forward for our African SAP customers and partners to reach new heights.”

Barry, Programme Director at Deloitte, further explained that the ASPIRE theme is closely aligned with the RISE with SAP offering, which encourages driving business innovation through collaboration, with the aim of building intelligent, sustainable enterprises in the cloud.

Mathebula, head of IT Business Applications Africa at Saint-Gobain Africa, added: “Digital transformation has been a critical topic on the agenda of African businesses for the last few years, promising huge opportunity for local businesses of all sizes. And because cloud migration and acceleration is gaining significant traction across the continent, with many organisations starting their digital transformation over the past few years, Saphila 2023 will be the place to discuss and shape cloud strategies.”

AFSUG

The African SAP User Group (AFSUG) is an independent, non-profit organisation that is not affiliated with SAP. Its primary focus is to create a platform where SAP customers and partners can connect within the SAP ecosystem, share information, and communicate with peers and experts. This platform enables members to access first-hand success stories and gain intelligence on new releases and features.

AFSUG serves as a forum for SAP customers to represent their industries, business processes, and technological requirements to share information and experiences. The goal is to accelerate the implementation of successful business solutions and influence the local and global directions of SAP Africa and SAP AG. AFSUG achieves this by promoting the needs and wishes of the user community through regular, focused, and highly professional contact between members, business partners, and SAP Africa at all levels. This contact also assists SAP Africa in managing the service-related challenges presented by rapid growth.

The board of directors, which comprises CIO customers, executive partners, and an SAP representative, volunteer their time to manage AFSUG as an independent and non-profit organisation. By providing this platform, AFSUG aims to create a community where SAP users can access valuable resources, gain industry insights, and network with peers.
