Bytes Managed Solutions adopts Kaseya automation solution

Bytes Managed Solutions, which exclusively distributes and supports NCR ATMs and point-of-sale devices in South Africa, and provides support services such as Dell, Acer, HP and Cisco equipment from 96 service points across southern Africa, is to deploy Kaseya's IT automation platform to manage its customer equipment/devices where appropriate.

Bytes Managed Solutions, which supports and maintains over 800 000 devices on behalf of its African customers, completed a successful eight-month pilot programme before reaching its decision.

“The deployment project is well under way and new customer assets numbering thousands of end points are being incorporated onto the automation framework,” says Abdul Pandor, customer relations director at Bytes Managed Solutions.

“Hardware and software discovery, audits, inventories, patch management, anti-virus, remote control, agent automation, software deployment, proactive monitoring, alerting and other features such as backup, policy management and desktop migration are now all controlled from a single platform. This solution affords us the ability to view and manage all of our customer's endpoints from a single site.”

Kaseya's automation features are designed to improve technician productivity and complement Bytes Managed Solutions' stated business driver to provide proactive service delivery, and the automation software is designed around a single database that generates reports on services activity by client.

“Live Connect is a remote access feature that allows technicians full control over geographically remote end points or servers with minimal end-user disruption,” says Pandor. “Greater bandwidth has had a marked impact on our ability to maximise the business benefit from features like this and deliver cost-effective IT services to a wider geography than before. Fully secure remote control means we improve our response times, which results in increased availability and better customer service.”

Kaseya's solution allows Bytes Managed Solutions to further enhance its ITIL-based service desk, automated patch management, ticketing, desktop policy management, and desktop migrations.
