Bytes Document Solutions (BDS), Africa's leading document management technology and solutions company and the largest Xerox distributor in the world, has appointed Anton van den Berg to the position of general manager: services.
Van den Berg has significant management experience in the operations and services sectors, coupled with a solid and impressive academic record. He has leveraged his experience and skills in key portfolios at some of South Africa's leading corporates. His new role at BDS will also include technical services, software and the managed print solutions sites.

Van den Berg's vision for BDS is that the company's service must be recognised by customers as being the best in the industry. Van den Berg joins BDS after spending the last five years at Absa Card, where he was instrumental in spearheading performance enhancements across the division. His exceptional performance as the head of business improvement resulted in his promotion to the position of Acting COO for Absa Card. In this role, he was responsible for the entire scope of operations supporting debit cards, credit cards and personal loans. He was also tasked with driving culture change in the division, through the implementation of a customer experience programme.
Van den Berg has considerable experience in management consulting, specialising in supply chain management, strategic sourcing and procurement strategy. His consulting experience was acquired at PricewaterhouseCoopers and IBM, where he worked on engagements with companies such as Glaxo Wellcome, BHP Billiton, the Department of Education, Anglo American and Harmony Gold. He also has extensive management experience at senior and executive levels - acquired first as the national supply chain manager for the Tsebo Outsourcing Group, and then as the head of business improvement for Absa Card and in his role as Acting COO at Absa Card.
He is an expert in operations in the service industry, especially in developing customer-centric solutions, aimed at maximising revenue while delivering value to clients. He is a change agent with extensive programme management experience - proficient at translating strategic intent into tangible and quantifiable benefits.
Van den Berg has a BCom Honours degree in financial management, a BSc Honours degree in Industrial Engineering and an MBA.
