Bungled payroll system under probe

Queensland's Crime and Misconduct Commission (CMC) is investigating allegations that individuals and, possibly, organised groups have tried to benefit from Queensland Health's bungled payroll system, reports Sidney Morning Herald.

CMC chairman Martin Moynihan says there are signs organised groups have been attempting to exploit the payroll system, which saw thousands of Queensland health employees receive the wrong pay, or no pay at all. "There are people who are trying to exploit and there are more people who will," Moynihan says.

The state government is spending $210 million to fix the health payroll system, introduced in March 2010.

NGA intros mid-market payroll solution

NorthgateArinso (NGA), a provider of HR systems and services, has unveiled a payroll solution for mid-market companies, states ITWire.

NGA's agoHRa offering can be used as a stand-alone local payroll or as part of a multi-country solution for companies with an international footprint.

The offering provides a single, straightforward solution to the complex requirements of rewarding both in-country and multinational workforces, allowing for global compliance, a single point of contact, and hassle-free payroll.

Web-based staffing software debuts

Bond International Software will reveal the integration of two Web-based staffing software solutions eEmpACT OnDemand and eConnect, says Red Orbit.

OnDemand is the staffing industry's first SaaS cloud-computing front and back office solution. Browser-based eConnect provides customers and employees with fast, easy access to payroll, time cards, customer order functions and more.

Previously, only available on the server-based eEmpACT software option, eConnect is now available on the cloud computing platform OnDemand giving staffing firms more choices - and improving efficiency with accessibility from any Web-enabled computer.
