With rising cyber security threats and a growing IT security skills gap, organisations are finding themselves at a loss when it comes to deploying security architectures geared to protect them and that don't require costly skills to maintain. According to Blue Turtle Technologies, these are some of the critical challenges it and its partner Cynet will be addressing at the 17th annual ITWeb Security Summit.
“South Africa is the country with the second most breaches in the world; this, along with resource scarcity, is creating the perfect storm, overwhelming security teams. Cynet’s AutoXDR solves this by putting your security on auto-pilot – shifting your resources from being reactive to proactive,” says Sean Wainer, Regional Sales Manager at Cynet.
"As cyber threats emerge, security vendors are often caught scrambling to build enhancements to their products, but for the customer, this often comes at a premium and a delay," says Hendrik Fourie, Product Manager, Blue Turtle. “This is one of the reasons we have partnered with Cynet, as its platforms deliver the prevention, detection, correlation, investigation and response needed to support security attacks. The second is that it offers a 24/7 managed detection response (MDR) service at no extra cost. The latter is key for a country where security skills are scarce."
Cynet offers a comprehensive security platform that leverages continuous learning and constant threat monitoring. When combined with Blue Turtle, it will provide customers with advanced security, intelligence and resources to augment a more comprehensive technology out of the box than any other solutions available today. The Cynet offering includes traditional audit and next-generation anti-virus components, as well as EDR and the extended detection and response capability, XDR.
A key differentiator to the Cynet offering is that the company acknowledges the potential for harm from internal threats, whether these are traditional or accidental. It has built internal monitoring and user behaviour analytics into its comprehensive security platform so that threats can be viewed through a single pane of glass. Further, as advanced threats require skilled people, the 24x7 CyOps team is a highly skilled team of incident responders, threat hunters and intelligence collectors, which is included in the cost of the software.
“When a customer selects Cynet from Blue Turtle, they can lean on our security expertise as their first line of response in the event of a threat, as we have the local visibility, local skills and local understanding. This is then supported by the CyOps team, which brings global expertise and best practices to the mix – and a team that follows the sun,” adds Fourie.
According to Blue Turtle, Cynet is just one of the plethora of security tools it combines to assist customers in building an end-to-end security operations centre (SOC). While a SOC traditionally offers visibility to cyber threats, Cynet fills the gap in delivering an automated response to threats and a team of experts that can provide sandbox analysis, malware analysis, reports on threats and threat intelligence. Fourie adds that by having Cynet in place, a security team is afforded a big brother that is well-versed, trained and has all the security playbooks at hand – without costing a cent more.
Blue Turtle and Cynet will provide insights into their partnership from 31 May to 1 June at the Sandton Convention Centre for the Johannesburg leg of the 17th annual ITWeb Security Summit and 6 June at the Century City Conference Centre for its Cape Town leg of the event.
