Blue Label Technology Solutions has appointed Ricky Correia as its first general manager.
According to the company, Correia will be responsible for growing the footprint of the products it distributes in Southern Africa.
"Specifically, he will be working with our local reseller and implementation partners on expanding the market for PrinterLogic, an enterprise end-user print management platform which has been prosperous in the public sector and financial sector.
"Correia has also been tasked with looking to build on this success and extend the product into these sectors. Much of this will involve engaging our existing partner base and seeking out new partners who are interested in expanding their footprint and services into these customer markets," says the company.
Blue Label Technology is a value-added distributor to southern African IT channel partners. Last year, the company expanded its portfolio with the addition of exclusive distribution rights for PrinterLogic.
Correia, who is said to have a longstanding career in the South African IT distribution industry, holds a BCompt Accounting from the University of South Africa, majoring in auditing.
Prior to moving to Blue Label Technology, he held various positions, such as sales head at Platinum Micro and business development head for Drive Control Corporation.
"My immediate goal is to get to know the partner base and engage with them to understand where the opportunities are in the market and what their requirements are of us in order to help them grow," says Correia.
"Long-term, I see that we will be able to expand our reach and that of the products we represent by offering relevant solutions that meet customer pain points but deliver long-term revenue streams for the channel.
"Further, I will take on the day-to-day managerial responsibilities of heading up the team, and driving business efficiencies.
"Like all channel companies, we operate in a challenging climate and the global economy, specifically the rand-dollar exchange rate, can pose a threat in a tougher economy. Although business confidence is on the up, it will take a while for it to translate into increased IT spend.
"I think the biggest threat is the uncertainty, which creates slower turnaround and decision-making."
With regards to opportunities in the region, Correia says the picture is more positive. "There is still so much to do and offer: cloud migrations, cyber security threats, data and business analytics, to name just three of the areas we are looking at expanding our portfolio to be able to offer global best practice solutions into the Sub-Saharan market."
Tito Pereira, CEO of Blue Label Technologies, says the appointment is part of a bigger strategy to establish more partnerships in the region.
"Blue Label Technology Solutions' drive to deliver relevant revenue streams for southern African service providers is more important now than ever. Correia's appointment strengthens our strategy to achieve long-term growth for the IT industry through genuine business partnerships."
