Ancient medicine goes hi-tech

The Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) has developed 'Cure@Home', 'decision support system' software that can help common man in a big way, says The Med Guru.

According to the Business Standard, the software developed by Pune-based C-DAC combines practices in allopath, ayurveda, homeopathy and yoga.

"Cure@Home is designed as a primitive, preventive and curative healthcare solution to the common man," says Medha Dhurndhar, programme co-ordinator at C-DAC, which comes under the central government's Department of Information and Technology.

The C-DAC solution, which attempts to combine the best of Indian medicine systems with modern technology, can be deployed on PCs or at kiosks and can be used at home, clinics, hospitals, public places and schools as a healthcare tool, reports Sify News.

The software is currently available in English, Hindi, Assamese and Bengali with plans to integrate other Indian languages in its repository.
