Ananzi: Second time lucky?

Ananzi Mail`s move to a new hosting company a week ago appears to have been more successful than the first attempt, which resulted in significant unscheduled down time.

"We are ecstatic," says Mark Buwalda, Ananzi MD. "Although it took us a little longer than expected, it was a smooth transition." He says about six million e-mails had to be transferred. "We are using the same platform for the new system so users have not lost any settings."

Buwalda says the first company Ananzi approached to take over the hosting of its mail system was not really equipped to do so. "Management is dependent on the knowledge of technical service providers in very much the same way as a patient is in the hands of a doctor.

"The second time around we went to a new organisation that is providing the same knowledge and systems that we were using originally."

Now that the move has taken place, Buwalda says technicians can begin work on setting up the Ananzi Plus offering for paying customers. "In the near future we will start curbing the size of the free mailboxes and making the larger mailboxes with anti-spam and anti-virus filters available for Ananzi Plus customers."

Ananzi Mail is still not accepting new users, but Buwalda says there are "a few steps we want to take first to make sure that everything is in place before allowing new users to come on board".

Ananzi Mail is running on the beta version of the new software, but everything is working smoothly and the official version will be in very soon, Buwalda says.
