Accounting and business management software solutions specialist Lorge has been contracted by mining and exploration company Africa Middle East Resources (AMER) to implement, service, support and maintain its Sage ERP X3 software solution.
As a new organisation, it is important for AMER to ensure its current and future business system requirements are met. As such, phase one financials, procurement, fixed assets and reporting will be implemented with a go-live date of 1 October 2011.
Martin van Blerk, head of Lorge's Sage ERP X3 division, which was awarded Best Achiever for Sage ERP X3, said the solution offers AMER a full suite of stock, procurement and accounting functions to fully support their needs and drive the business.
“The needs of AMER can only be met by an ERP accounting software that has strong functionality and features relating to stock, procurement and analytical accounting, backed by reliable software services. A fundamental need is to ensure management has immediate and ongoing access to critical business information,” added Van Blerk.
One of the big advantages of Sage ERP X3, according to Van Blerk, is the ability to accurately and easily update the analytical ledger to ensure reporting goes down to commodity and project level, with easy drill-down to the source transaction. The other advantage is the development toolkit that gives AMER the ability to track valuable information like licensing requirements, costs and renewal dates, and, on the operation side, metres drilled and samples mined.
For an expanding business, creating a new company is easy and effective in Sage. Van Blerk said the system currently caters for AMER's current needs and the software is also geared to accommodate group expansion into countries throughout Africa and the globe.
