The International Trade Administration Commission of South Africa (ITAC) will deploy ACCPAC Advantage Series Enterprise Edition in its corporate finance division in an effort to improve its internal control measures and corporate governance.
According to Tertius Zitzke, managing director of AccTech Systems, clear audit trails are a prerequisite in all government departments. ITAC`s deployment will not only enable the commission to comply with corporate governance requirements, but will also ensure its internal control measures are adequate.
"ITAC is responsible for administrating all international trade for SA," says Abdullah Ismail, chief financial officer for ITAC. "We required sophisticated, yet easy-to-use tools for our financial systems to adhere to international trade business practice. ACCPAC`s Financials and AccTech eWorkflow provided us with a perfect solution," adds Ismail.
AccTech eWorkflow was deployed to streamline ITAC`s purchases and internal procedures. Purchase orders for recurring expenses such as copier payments and telephone accounts are now managed through AccTech`s Purchase Order eWorkflow module. Levels of authorisations are predefined, freeing up senior management`s time from approving non-critical payments.
The deployment has enabled ITAC`s financial department to provide its executive management team with information rich management packs. "We are now able to provide advanced reports of our general ledger chart of accounts, cashbook status and other statutory reports such as the salary clearing account and SARS reports with extreme ease," says Ismail.
ITAC`s ACCPAC system has impressive security features. "System users are only able to access and process their relevant cost centres to the purchase order module. We are able to track all new actions against specific budgets and the actual expenses paid. This empowers the finance department to manage the books and not just be a data capturer," concludes Ismail.
