Absa extends free Internet access

Absa says it will extend its free Internet access to non-Absa customers for a further three months, beyond the previous cut-off date of 1 March. The bank is also investigating payment options for subscribers.

"An overwhelming demand from non-Absa customers to continue using Absa`s Internet access has resulted in Absa extending this service to non-Absa customers for a further three months until 1 June 2002," says Absa.

Dave Donkin, Absa`s group executive of E-Business and Information Management, says: "Non-Absa customers responded to the service with vigour and enthusiasm, and have indicated that they are delighted with its availability and quality. They want to continue the service with Absa, even if it involves payment options. We have listened to these subscribers` requests and are investigating and evaluating a variety of options for the future."

Those Absa customers who qualify will continue to obtain the service free of charge, as before.
