South African low-fare airline, 1time, has contracted mid-market ERP business and technology solutions supplier and implementer, Lorge, to supply and support a full ERP and financial SAP Business One accounting software solution at the airline`s Johannesburg headquarters.
After three years of operation, the increasing popularity of the airline led to dynamic growth and expansion, necessitating a new accounting and financial system that could also be developed by its IT department to fully integrate passenger and operational information.
"As 1time has its own IT department, Lorge was also contracted to provide formal, SAP-certified training over a period of two-and-a-half weeks, for a 1time staff member who subsequently drove the installation of the SAP Business One software," said Ursula Saffy of Lorge SAP Business One corporate sales.
"The 10-user networked solution includes general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, financials and an e-commerce module that will service the needs of an IT company owned by 1time. The software implementation was completed within two weeks, by 1time`s IT director Michael Kaminski and SAP certified installer Leoni van Buuren, with Lorge providing troubleshooting assistance as and when required."
Making use of technology wherever possible to streamline its operations and minimise costs, 1time offers ticket-less travel with leading-edge systems for Internet bookings (95% of all bookings are made online), service centre reservations (receiving between 2 500 and 4 400 calls a day), airport check-in and boarding procedures.
"Technology takes us forward and is a means of entrenching our position in the provision of low-fare airline services. Our state-of-the-art systems ensure we are able to offer low air fares on an unlimited basis with no additional costs, no restrictions and no hidden conditions," said Kaminski. "The SAP Business One solution fits this philosophy perfectly."
