Digital news Web site, News24, has unveiled an iPhone application, free for download from the Apple iTunes store, to get and share news on iPhone handsets.

The application was designed in-house and features content from News24, Channel24, Sport24, Fin24 and Wheels24, the company says.

It includes e-mail and feedback features to submit comments, photos and news tips, as well as the ability to share content with Facebook, Digg, muti, Delicious and Twitter users, News24 says.

The application also offers a feature called Picture the News, providing readers with news of the day and photos in byte-sized snippets, and a restaurant look-up option with maps by Google Maps.

Geoff Cohen, GM of News24, says: “It is ideal for on-the-go South Africans looking for a quick and simple way to remain up-to-date on news, sports and the markets.

“As the prevalence and use of smartphones increases in South and southern Africa, consumers can look forward to more mobile utilities and services from across the 24.com family of brands,” Cohen concludes.
