iBurst has unveiled a virtual fax service, enabling its subscribers to send faxes from their e-mail client to any local fax number and to selected countries.
Fax2Email and Virtual Fax are two sides of the same coin, as one enables the receiving of faxes and the other the sending of faxes, says Antony McKechnie, iBurst`s head of product development. The difference is Fax2Email is free, while Virtual Fax is a paid for service, he says.
Virtual Fax is available on a 12-month subscription at R30 per month. Additionally, subscribers are required to purchase fax vouchers in R50 or R100 denominations to pay for transmission costs, he adds.
McKechnie says iBurst subscribers need only send an e-mail to their destination fax number followed by @faxburst.co.za. The e-mail is converted into the correct format and delivered to the recipient`s fax machine.
Additionally, e-mail attachments like PDF and Word files are also transmitted by the virtual fax server, he says.
The lack of a fax machines while out of the office was one of the main drawbacks of being on the road, McKechnie believes. "Integrating virtual fax into one`s mobile office completely solves that problem."
