iBurst pushes for e-billing

Although iBurst's e-billing feature has been available to subscribers since November, the wireless broadband provider recently sent out e-mails urging clients to make use of the service, in a drive to save paper.

"A subscriber that opts for the e-bill will not receive the paper version anymore. We believe this will help iBurst subscribers simplify their lives," explains Callia Doucas, marketing manager at iBurst.

iBurst wants to make a tangible contribution to the environment and feels that eliminating thousands of paper bills would be a good start, Doucas adds.

Many departments within iBurst are reducing their paper consumption in line with their commitment to protecting the environment. "We are also encouraging our staff to become more aware of how their own activities impact on the environment."

So far, she says, the response has been phenomenal, with 14 000 subscribers already opting for the e-bill.

"Each subscriber was receiving four A4 pages, one envelope and one insert every month, so we're already saving at least 70 000 pages of paper per month."

The iBurst e-billing service was developed in-house, and uses 40-bit encryption. "iBurst takes security and subscriber privacy very seriously," she concludes.
