Telkom has apologised to MyADSL for misquoting statistics from its poll.
On 9 November Telkom issued a statement indicating that 85% of MyADSL users voted overwhelmingly in favour of the new pay per use ADSL billing structure that took effect on 1 November.
The statement gave the impression that MyADSL members approved of the system, when this is not true, says MyADSL founder Rudolph Muller.
Muller says the real fact is that 94% of MyADSL`s 7 135 forum members are not in favour of Telkom`s pay-per-usage billing system.
In acknowledging these facts, Telkom also apologised to MyADSL for publishing erroneous information.
However, a Telkom spokesperson maintains that a number of Internet service providers (ISPs) are happy with the new billing structure. She also points out that MyADSL subscribers constitute only 7.1% of its total subscriber base.
With regard to ISPs that are unhappy with the new billing framework, it is only the small number of ISPs that used to purchase 3GB products and sold them to users as 30GB products that will be hard hit, she says.
