New content on aggressive driving has been added to the Arrive Alive Web site to assist drivers over the holiday season.
Free State-based attorney Johan Jonck, who started the site in March, says the latest content offers valuable information on how to avoid aggressive drivers and safety tips on changing lanes and following distances.
Jonck says he will also be looking to have content added to the site from the World Health Organisation and the Medical Research Council, as well as links to other sites in the run up to the holiday season.
"The World Health Organisation reports that by 2008, road accidents will be the fourth largest cause of deaths in the world. Currently over 1 million people are killed annually worldwide in road accidents."
He says the Medical Research Council is also making a 42-page report available to the site on road accidents.
Additional content for the site is also being sourced from the Accident Research Centre, the University of Natal, the CSIR, the national Arrive Alive fatal accident information centre, the Road Accident Fund Web site, and police.
Jonck says the site will also monitor the death toll figures during the holiday season and provide daily updates for drivers on traffic congestion as well as basic driving tips for people going on holiday.
He says the site has received sponsorship support from Digicore Holdings and Volkswagen SA. Jonck funds the Web site, which he started after he lost his mother and a friend in separate car accidents.
