EMC-owned company Iomega's StorCenter Pro ix4-200r NAS rackmount server has been released as part of its network solutions portfolio.
The data protection and storage company says the server is affordable and easy-to-use, featuring economical file sharing, fast data throughput, cross-platform support and enterprise-level features for SMEs and remote work groups.
According to Iomega, the four-drive, 4TB, NAS rackmount server's other offerings include iSCSI block-level access, multiple Raid configurations, folder quotas support, jumbo frames, Windows Active Directory support, remote access and management, and IP security camera support.
It also offers VMware Ready certification for virtualisation installations and retails at a starting price of less than $1 800 (R16 000), says Michelle Kasselman, key account manager for Iomega in SA.
“The feature set and EMC software innovation in the new StorCenter Pro ix4-200r makes this rackmount NAS a powerful and affordable networking solution for today's dynamic small and mid-sized businesses,” Kasselman adds.
The VMware Ready certification enables SMEs to take advantage of the benefits and advanced features offered by shared storage in a VMware environment, she notes.
Kasselman says the ix4-200r is ready to work with any computer on the network within minutes with only four mouse clicks, and management is easy through the user-friendly Web interface.
She also notes that during set-up users can set automatic backup scheduling which means they will not have to worry about the backup of the scheduled folders again.
For additional protection, the ix4-200r includes MozyHome online backup service, providing 2GB of free online storage per user for backing up selected folders directly from their computers to EMC data centres, concludes Kasselman.
