HP to expand in Gujarat

Printing and imaging solutions provider Hewlett-Packard India (HP India) is to expand its operations in Gujarat province, according to The Economic Times.

"HP will expand its footprint to new locations and spread to 25 towns across Gujarat," HP India's imaging and printing group director, Samir Shah, told reporters.

"The company's support network in 10 towns will also be strengthened," he said, adding: "Going forward, the next wave of growth will come from the Web."

Schools re-equip to trim waste

Australia's New South Wales education department has unveiled plans to slice up to $35 million a year from its printing and imaging bill, with new equipment for more than 2 000 schools, Australian IT News reports.

It has begun an aggressive cost-cutting exercise to halve the 65 000 imaging devices in use and finalised a new list of vendors on three-year contracts.

A crucial plank in the education and training department's savings strategy is to centralise buying. Instead of dealing with suppliers individually, schools and further education colleges will use the department's buying power.

Canon opens darkroom concept store

Canon and Foto Riesel have opened a new digital darkroom store that claims to give users a unique imaging experience, reports Smarthouse.

Aimed at photo enthusiasts and professionals, Foto Riesel, Sydney's new digital darkroom store, offers a specialist, custom printing centre featuring a range of output options, including high-end Canon large format inkjet printing.

The new imaging experience store was developed to ensure all printing and display demands can be met at home or in-store.
