New IBM printers broaden mid-range customer options

As part of its portfolio of enterprise output solutions, IBM has introduced new cut-sheet printers with multi-function capability and print speeds of between 60 and 110 pages per minute (ppm).

Providing greater throughput and a variety of datastream support options, the Infoprint 2090ES, Infoprint 2105ES, Infoprint 2060ES and Infoprint 2075ES printers provide substantially lower total cost of ownership.

"Our new cut-sheet family enables us to give mid-market customers more printing options," says Lareen Kohler, IBM SA printing sales specialist. "And, because we work closely with IBM`s Global Financing division, we can offer customers total solutions that include fixed printing costs over a five-year period."

The new printers combine a data centre-centric controller with copier capabilities, providing more choices to better meet the needs of data centres and distributed print environments.

They also provide 1 200 dots per inch (dpi) print quality, support for IBM Intelligent Printer Datastream (IPDS), PCL, PostScript and PDF datastreams, multiple connectivity options - including wireless Ethernet, and support for a variety of finishing options - such as stapling and saddle-stitch booklet maker.

The IBM controller - in conjunction with other IBM software products and optional features - offers advanced functions including Web pages, e-mail printing and notification, send and save capability, Network Printer Manager (NPM), scan to e-mail, server or fax, archive to document server, network status page, and a downloadable accounting log.

The Infoprint 2090ES and Infoprint 2105ES operate at speeds of up to 90 and 105ppm respectively. They replace the Infoprint 2085 and 2105 with enhancements that focus on increased flexibility with a booklet maker/interposer, convergence of reprographic and data centre capabilities, and an increased duty cycle on the 2105ES.

Features include a standard large paper input capacity of 3 000 sheets in three trays, an optional high-capacity feeder, 100 staple or booklet finisher for the Infoprint 2090ES and 100 staple finisher for the Infoprint 2105ES, 2/3, 2/4, or 4 hole switchable hole punch options, an 80 ipm integrated scanner, standard copying convenience functions, direct submission of XML-based JDF (Job Definition Format) job tickets, tray/media profile capability in the printer for easy reconfiguration, a networked scanner with scan to email/server/fax, and custom paper sizes and media names

The Infoprint 2060ES and Infoprint 2075ES operate at speeds of up to 60 and 75ppm respectively. Designed as full-function, cost-effective multi-function solutions, they help increase productivity while reducing the total cost of printing. They are also highly affordable products, combining a base maintenance plan option, a cost-effective monthly fee, and click charges that include toner.

Features include a standard large paper input capacity of 4 100 sheets in three trays, an optional high-capacity tray, 50 and 100 staple finisher or booklet finisher options, 2/3, 2/4, or 4-hole switchable hole punch options, an 60 ipm/75 ipm integrated scanner, standard copying convenience functions, direct submission of XML-based JDF (Job Definition Format) job tickets, tray/media profile capability in the printer for easy reconfiguration, networked scanner with scan to e-mail/server/fax, and custom paper sizes and media names.

The printers will be available in SA in early December 2003.

List prices for the Infoprint 2090ES and 2105ES start at R326 000 and R397 000 respectively. List prices for the Infoprint 2060ES and 2075ES start at R175 000 and R222 100. All prices exclude VAT.
