JSE-listed Business Connexion (BCX) has acquired SiloFX Enterprise Integrators for an undisclosed sum.
The purchase comes two weeks after the Competition Tribunal prohibited Telkom's proposed acquisition of BCX.
According to the company, the purchase of SiloFX - an integration consulting company in the field of enterprise architecture and integration - is part of its plans to solidify its position as a leading integrator of ICT solutions.
New BCX CEO Benjamin Mophatlane says the company conducted extensive research before making an offer to SiloFX.
"Application integration is a major growth area for BCX. Over the last four years, we have seen an 80% growth in client demand in this area. At the same time, we have borne the brunt of a significant shortage of application integration skills in SA.
"We are, therefore, extremely excited to have concluded this agreement, which will bolster our own skills pool and entrench our position in the local market," he explains.
SiloFX MD Vish Rajpal is also upbeat about the transaction.
"As part of BCX, we are now in a better position to partner with some of the world's leading vendors and to provide a one-stop integration service," he explains.
He adds the sale will meet the considerable local appetite for integration initiatives.
"Increasingly, businesses are striving to improve their legacy solutions, automate business processes and create composite business applications and re-usable services. This, coupled with increasing consumption of information, has created huge demand for an offering that the newly bolstered Business Connexion Professional Services team can fulfil," he says.
The acquisition became effective on 1 July.
