DataPro expands

DataPro, which recently acquired Definity Telecommunications, said on Friday that it had acquired its offshore interests as well.

DataPro has now acquired the Namibia-based Definity Telecom, which was separately owned by the original vendors of Definity.

The company told shareholders that it is one of two least-cost routing companies that supplies telephony services to medium and large corporations in Namibia. "The acquisition is important for DataPro as an entry point into Sub-Saharan Africa," it said.

It is expected that the purchase will aid DataPro`s earnings, as well as add a "high-quality annuity customer base", which complements that of VoxTelecom and Definity.

Payment for the company is in cash, and DataPro says it will not have any material effects, so the value is not disclosed.

The company`s shares were trading unchanged at 77c shortly after the announcement. However, volumes were considerably up on the previous day.
