HD conferencing hits the desktop

Radvision and Samsung Electronics America, a subsidiary of Samsung Electronics, unveiled the VC240, a high-definition desktop video conferencing device, reports Business Wire.

The VC240 can operate as a standalone desktop HD video conferencing device and as a 24-inch high resolution monitor.

Boaz Raviv, CEO of Radvision, says: “The VC240 breaks down barriers in the desktop market by allowing users to enjoy all the benefits of the high definition video communications experience at a fraction of the cost of existing hardware desktop solutions.”

iPhone app boosts animal cruelty awareness

The FeedRoom, a provider in online video communications, has revealed that the Humane Society of the US (HSUS) has released a mobile marketing application, enabling the animal protection organisation to extend its Web video library to millions of iPhone and iPod Touch users, states Market Wire.

The HSUS application delivers information and alerts to millions of online users by transferring video and podcast RSS feeds to Web sites, blogs and social media sites. HSUS aims to use the application to raise its fundraising and awareness efforts.

According to the AdMob Mobile Metrics report for April 2009, the iPhone now accounts for 51% of all mobile Web traffic from smartphones in the US, up from 10% just a year ago.
