Millions for govt ICT
A total of $87.6 million has been allocated to the ICT project in the Jamaican office of the prime minister for the current fiscal year, reports Jamaican Information Service.
As stated in the 2009/10 Estimates of Expenditure, which is now before the house of representatives, the allocation will go towards the procurement of equipment to support e-government services and the training of staff in the use of the new equipment and services.
Physical achievements up to January 2009 include the unveiling and implementation of the e-government tax portal; enactment of the E-Transaction Act; implementation of the Certificate of Authority and the procurement of database management software.
Community patent system planned

ANAO extends Unisys outsourcing contract
The Australian National Audit Office (ANAO) has extended its 12-year outsourcing relationship with Unisys Australia for an additional five years following a competitive bid, according to Computerworld Australia.
In this third contract awarded to Unisys since 1997, the new engagement is aligned to the Information Technology Infrastructure Library set of practices and policies for IT service management and is designed to improve both service delivery efficiency and quality.
Under the five-year contract, Unisys will continue to provide the federal auditing agency with desktop and infrastructure support, LAN and security administration, desktop asset management and change control support.
