India tops outsourcing hub

According to CyberMedia's Global Services survey on emerging outsourcing destinations, India remains the most favoured, reports rediff News.

India boasts the largest number of cities which feature among the top 50 emerging cities, followed by China, Brazil, the Philippines and the US.

The study identified Asia and east Europe as preferred destinations for IT and BPO, as 19 Asian and 12 east and central European nations featured in the list of the top 50 emerging outsourcing cities, globally.

Cisco builds new data centre

Cisco has won a deal to build a tier-4 data centre for Injazat Data Systems, the United Arab Emirates' IT and BPO provider, reports Network World.

The two-storey data centre is part of a project that includes the five-storey Injazat Data Systems HQ, and an eight-storey car park.

Once operational, the data centre will accommodate up to 9 000 servers and associated infrastructure.

EDS contract extended

EDS has announced that its $1.8 billion outsourcing contract with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) has been extended for another two years, reports MSN Money.

Under the agreement, EDS will provide information and technology infrastructure services to the ATO until 2010.

EDS currently manages the ATO's computer mainframe, server, data storage and communications network.
