Tellumat Communications: The best-kept secret in the industry

Tellumat Communications has designed a distribution channel partner programme to take its range of Convergence PBXs and complementary Callsuite communications software applications to market.

Neill Friedman, Tellumat`s Channel Partner Programme manager, says: "Extensive research was done to ensure a very well structured and controlled partnership programme. We took a look at some of the more successful partner programmes from international companies like Cisco, IBM and CA, and adapted those aspects which best suited our business objectives and the needs of our local environment."

The "SpeakEasy" programme has been designed to benefit Tellumat`s distribution channel and to protect businesses which utilise Tellumat`s communications solutions. Benefits to the distribution channel partners include rewards in the form of discounts and market development funds based on a three-tier accreditation scale. The end-user can rest assured that any dealer accredited with Tellumat SpeakEasy channel partner status has achieved a predefined level of sales and technical proficiency, ensuring that all solutions are developed and implemented properly, thus minimising communications operational costs and increasing productivity.

Friedman explains where the name SpeakEasy comes from: "In the 1920s one of the best kept secrets of the decade was Speakeasy. Discerning folk from all over sought access to an exclusive club where good food, service and entertainment were guaranteed. Guests were received strictly by invitation only and venues advertised by word of mouth alone."

Tellumat, the largest manufacturer of voice platform technology in southern Africa, wants its channel partners to experience another well kept secret: the home-grown care and service that only a truly South African business can provide."

Friedman explains: "Up until March 2003 Tellumat focused most of their energy on supplying PBXs on an exclusive and OEM basis to specific vendors. One of the aims of this programme is to correct this situation by allowing all our partners better access to our products. Tellumat is creating a mechanism whereby channel partners can feed back market demands, so that we can continue to innovate our product range according to the needs of the local business community. As the programme states, we are coming out from behind a closed door."

A further aim of the programme is to put real benefits behind its Proudly South African status, such as shortened delivery times of new PBXs ordered and the delivery of maintenance spares and components within 48 hours, among others. Tellumat also has its own in-house full maintenance rental scheme, creating a convenient "one-stop shop" and taking the uncertain cost of maintenance out of the equation for the full rental term.

Tellumat`s Speakeasy channel partner programme offers real benefits to its distribution channel partners as well as South African business in need of real communications solutions.
