Microsoft mulls SME offering

Microsoft is considering volume licensing options that meet the specific needs of small and medium businesses, and is in the process of researching options that would be of interest to the channel, states Channel Web.

Microsoft's small-business-focused solution providers have long clamoured for a volume licensing option that fits their needs better than Software Assurance. That's because SA, particularly on the desktop, has been a tough sell for SME partners, says Gavriella Schuster, senior director for Windows product management.

Schuster declines to offer specifics on what these packages would include and when Microsoft might offer them to partners. However, the fact that Microsoft is even considering this has to be seen as a positive development for the channel.

Calyon has adopted the Calypso system for cash management which extends Calyon's usage of Calypso's back-office solution, reports Banking Tech.

The Calypso cash management solution is designed to manage cash flow projections coming from all Calypso and non-Calypso back-office systems used by the bank.

The Calypso platform is currently accessed by 200 users across different entities, currencies and time zones spanning across 16 Calyon financial centres including London, Tokyo, Mumbai, Hong Kong and SA as well as at the bank's headquarters in Paris.
