Users distrust mobile

Disputing other studies suggesting that consumers are warming to the idea of banking or shopping using their wireless devices, Unisys said that 71% of consumers it surveyed in 14 countries said they wouldn't shop with wireless device, says Wireless Week.

The research also revealed that 59% of the respondents don't trust their mobile devices to provide a secure transaction. Only 9% currently use these devices to conduct transactions involving credit-card payments, money transfers and deposits.

After surveying more than 13 000 consumers worldwide, the company identified the countries with consumers most reluctant to use a mobile device to bank or shop online. They are: France (86%); the UK (79%); Australia (78%); Belgium and Italy (both at 77%); and the US (71%).

BOA passes 1m mobile users

Bank of America has surpassed one million unique active mobile banking customers, says The Earth Times.

The service was introduced nationwide in May 2007 as part of Bank of America's suite of online banking services. Nearly 25 million consumers bank online with Bank of America.

"We see over 100 000 users daily on peak high usage days," said Lance Drummond, e-commerce and ATM executive for Bank of America.

Infosys earns awards

Infosys' Program Autumn project, with one of Europe's leading banks, was awarded the 2008 Offshoring and Outsourcing Project of the Year award.

Also, Infosys' impressive Money Movement project, with a global financial services company, won the 2008 Payments & Treasury Services Project of the Year award.
