DVT appoints Ashley De Klerk as COO and Gauteng MD

DVT, which recently listed on the AltX of the JSE, has appointed Ashley De Klerk as COO of DVT Holdings and MD of DVT Gauteng.

He replaces industry veteran Derek Hughes, who has vacated the post to focus all his attention on mergers and acquisitions, as these are a stated and critical growth strategy of the company.

De Klerk, who has been in the IT sector for 19 years, was formerly director of public sector at Microsoft South Africa. He and Hughes have known each other for many years, and given DVT`s strong Microsoft orientation, the two parties had an inherent affinity.

Prior to joining Microsoft, De Klerk held the position of MD of Software Futures Gauteng, and he spent several years at SAS Institute as well as at SAS Institute partner, Real Global Business Solutions.

"There can`t be many places more exciting to work right now than DVT," says De Klerk. "The company has just gone public; it is growing well ahead of the market; DVT Gauteng is a great place to work; and moving away from a multinational with all the travel commitments, I`ll have more time to spend with my family.

"I`ve bought 100% into their vision of growth. The interim results show clearly that the company has everything in place to succeed: blue-chip customers and partners; in-depth skills in the Microsoft space; strong fundamentals and a tight focus on key markets; experienced management, and great growth prospects, especially with Radical, the contact centre/helpdesk software framework which we acquired in 2004."

DVT`s maiden interims, reflecting the period ended 31 August 2007, showed the company boosting revenue 119% and earnings 171%, as it reported revenue of R28.3 million and earnings of R2.85 million, relative to the period a year before. Management is confident it can continue to return positive results for the foreseeable future.
