GijimaAst has been awarded a contract with global diversified giant Anglo American SA for the provision of ICT services.

In an announcement to the Stock Exchange News Service, released late on Friday, GijimaAst says the three-year application outsourcing contract includes the outsourcing of Anglo American's SAP support to GijimaAst's Support Hub.

The contract is valued at R53 million and includes support to other Anglo American offices based in London, Luxembourg, Beijing and Moscow.

"GijimaAst will also support Anglo American's non-SAP corporate applications covering the corporate office in SA, as well as Kumba Iron Ore. The contract will ensure a higher level of service for Anglo American and will deliver necessary economies of scale allowing the required flexibility to plan future ICT initiatives," the company says.

GijimaAst this morning refused to be drawn on further details about the deal, but said the companies are preparing a statement.
