Faritec aims high with Microsoft

JSE-listed IT solutions and services company, Faritec, has announced its intention to become the largest Microsoft partner in South Africa across its chosen solution areas within the next 12 to 18 months.

In an aggressive bid to grow its Microsoft competence, Faritec is investing at an organic and acquisitive level to further develop this skill within its organisation.

Gordon Love, Gauteng regional executive at Faritec, says the company will build on its existing position as the second-largest revenue contributor to Microsoft South Africa

"In addition to focusing on the corporate and public sector, we have also embarked on a drive in the small to medium business market. As an empowered organisation with an A rating from Empowerdex, Faritec has already enjoyed a number of successes at provincial and local government level," Love says.

As a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner, Faritec currently has numerous Microsoft successes at customers, including the PG Group, Bridge Shipping and Barloworld Equipment. Faritec now intends to further its Microsoft reach within another 1 400 of its existing client base.

Faritec employs 460 people and has managed the smooth transition of its business model to concentrate on services and solutions, which will contribute R506 million of its turnover for the current financial year. This will be leveraged across the organisation to strengthen its capability and competence around the Microsoft solutions.

Faritec is strengthening its Microsoft competence in the following key areas: security; integration services; infrastructure optimisation; application platforms; and information worker solutions.

In the security arena, Faritec has created a Microsoft security centre of excellence, providing professional services, security roadmaps and blueprints as well as monitored and managed security solutions from its Security Operations Centre.

Its efforts in the integration services space revolve around Microsoft .Net as a key platform for creating customer-centric composite applications and include tool sets such as Host Integration, SharePoint and Biztalk.

With its infrastructure optimisation offering, Faritec takes customers through five stages, from basic to optimal, in order to make the most of infrastructure components such as desktops, servers and networks.

At the application platform level, the company concentrates on Customer Relationship Management and PerformancePoint, Microsoft's business intelligence offering.

"Last but not least, we work with our customers to migrate onto the latest information worker platform, which includes the replacement and collaboration of Windows Vista, Exchange 2007 and Office 2007," Love says.
