The State IT Agency (SITA) has appointed non-executive board member Peter Pedlar as acting CEO, with effect from 15 May.
The temporary appointment follows the resignation of outgoing CEO Mavuso Msimang, in September, and mounting industry concern over the organisation's fate.
On Friday, Thenjiwe Chikane, SITA's chairperson, confirmed the appointment of Pedlar, who has served on the agency's audit and risk, finance and capex, and strategic committees.
Pedlar runs his own corporate governance consultancy and has worked in both the private and public sectors. Following his term as deputy director-general in the Department of Science and Technology, Pedlar joined Manase and Associates, a firm of chartered accountants, as an executive director.
Pedlar serves on the boards of SITA, Africa Matters and the Council of the Natal Museum. He holds degrees from the University of the Western Cape and Stellenbosch Graduate School of Business.
