AltX-listed DataPro has appointed technology entrepreneur, venture capitalist and seven-summit mountaineer Tony van Marken as its new executive chairman in a board reshuffle.
The changes also see Mike von Holdt return from subsidiary VoxTelecom to the group board as CFO.
The announcement comes days after the group revealed its intention to acquire Orion Telecom in a R380 million deal.
Van Marken, formerly president and CEO of Canada's Architel Systems and a general partner at venture capital firm XDL Invervest Capital, was already an executive director of DataPro.
"I'm looking forward to helping the group execute its strategic vision to become a leading alternative telecoms operator in the southern African marketplace," Van Marken says.
Von Holdt has been associated with DataPro since 2001. He played an instrumental role in the management buyout of DataPro from Control Instruments and served as a non-executive director at the company until 2004.
Commenting on the new appointments, CEO Douglas Reed says: "We've set ambitious goals at DataPro and we're lucky to have such high calibre people on board to help us achieve these goals."
