The Independent Communications Authority of SA (ICASA) has approved the company`s change in ownership, says Wireless Business Solutions (WBS).

In February, a 40% stake in WBS was sold to a local consortium that includes Blue Label Investments.

Blue Label Investments is a diversified investment company, with holdings that include The Pre-Paid Company, which has the rights to distribute prepaid airtime for Vodacom, Telkom, MTN and Cell C.

Following the transaction, Alan Knott-Craig Jr was appointed as MD of WBS. Thami Mtshali retained his position as CEO.

Jacki Mpondo-Hendricks, head of corporate affairs, says many positive changes have been implemented since ownership of the company changed.

"We`ve had a drastic increase in staff, doubling the size of the organisation," she says. The company has also expanded the size of its network, she adds.

WBS says it will begin trading as iBurst with immediate effect. The new name formerly only referred to the company`s mobile broadband Internet product.

Wireless Business Solutions will remain the legal and registered name of the firm.
