Faster, better protection with AVG 2013

Today's Internet users are susceptible to countless threats online - from phishing to malware attacks - and each of the security software products on the market offers a slightly different form of protection. While the basis of each of these is essentially the same - a defensive shield that will stop 'net nasties' from gaining access to users' PCs - security software vendors differentiate themselves by the features they offer.

AVG's 2013 fully featured range of products meets the needs of all users - from occasional surfers, to entire families. The new product suite consists of Premium Security 2013, Internet Security 2013 and AntiVirus 2013. While each has its own features and benefits, they all contain features that help to optimise and enhance a PC's performance and speed up sluggish systems.

"Security products have in the past been seen as performance-draining software, but AVG's 2013 range finally puts that notion to bed," says Simon Campbell-Young, CEO of AVG distributor Phoenix Distribution. "In addition, AVG 2013 boasts notable performance improvements in the software itself, with a new Turbo Scan that checks files in the order that they're saved to the disk, as opposed to how they're saved in the file directory, speeding up the process."

Other changes in AVG's 2013 offerings include a file reputation service to help detect threats, while the installation process has been cut down to five screens. In addition, the interface has been adjusted to suit touch-screens. The new design uses Windows 8-styled tiles, with big fonts, simple labels and bold colours.

One of the reasons for this, explains Campbell-Young, is that AVG is one of the first software vendors offering a Windows 8-ready product. "The new interface matches perfectly the modern UI in the upcoming Windows 8. AVG has moved into the future with the 2013 range's touch-friendly interface, speedy installation and impressively fast scans. Achieving better protection against the latest threats is a constant goal for any security software vendor, and AVG's 2013 products deliver the fast and effective protection for all users."
