Local black empowerment IT group Safika Technologies Holdings (STH), is now focusing on service delivery, rather than using its empowerment status, as a means of achieving its revenue and profit targets.
The company - which is only four years old, has experienced substantial growth over that period, through its ability to deliver a portfolio of products and services. With offices in Johannesburg, Pretoria and Cape Town, Safika Technologies Holdings consists of four subsidiaries and two associated companies which together, allow the group to offer middleware and integration products and services, Internet development, networking services, IT training and, change management. It has a total staff compliment of 95, consisting of highly qualified Management and IT professionals, 70% of who are from previously disadvantaged communities. In addition, Safika Technologies Holdings has access to a database of 300 (IT) skilled resources.
Safika Technologies Holdings has recently acquired the master distributorship for BEA products in Sub-Saharan Africa, as part of`its strategy to penetrate the local Middleware and E-commerce environment. This together with its expertise in Systems Integration and infrastructure development helped the company lend a substantial contract with a leading Telecommunications company in SA.
Within its current crop of clients, STH services the Departments of Transport, Communications and Labour, as well as Telcordia Technologies, Telkom, Eskom and MTN. While this reflects the groups current focus on the Government/Parastatal and Telecommunications markets, STH has made a strategic decision to actively address the penetration of its other selected vertical markets which are transport and financial services, with specific emphasis on the development of its private sector client base.
Revenue figures over the past 4 years reflect STH`s steady growth, based on excellent service delivery complemented by its suite of leading edge products. At the end of financial year February 1999, annual revenue was R4 million. This had increased to R18 million by February 2000. Revenue to July 2000 is R46 million and the continuation of this current growth trend will ensure that STH comfortably reaches its Revenue Target of R80 million by February 2001.
