Local Apple distributor Core Group today announced the availability of the iPad Air in SA.
Featuring a 9.7-inch Retina display in a new thinner and lighter design, the iPad Air weighs just less than 500g, making it 20% thinner and 28% lighter than the fourth-generation iPad.
The device will be available by the end of next week from Apple premium resellers (iStore and Digicape), Apple authorised retailers and cellular partners, at a starting price of R5 999.
"We are thrilled to announce the launch of iPad Air in SA. iPad created an entirely new mobile computing experience, and the new iPad Air is another big leap ahead. Once you hold one in your hand, you will understand what a tremendous advancement this is," says Rutger-Jan van Spaandonk, executive director, Core Group.
iPad Air WiFi models will be available in SA in silver or space grey, for the recommended retail price of R5 999 for the 16GB model, R7 399 for the 32GB model, R8 699 for the 64GB model and R9 999 for the 128GB model.
iPad Air with WiFi + cellular will be available in silver and space grey for the recommended retail price of R7 799 for the 16GB model, R8 999 for the 32GB model, R9 999 for the 64GB model, and R11 499 for the 128GB model.
Furthermore, Core says customers are reminded that when they purchase an iPad Air, they qualify for free productivity and creativity apps.
Apple has made iWork and iLife free with the purchase of any new iPad. In addition, iPad Air owners will have access to iTunes. The iTunes Store gives customers access to over 475 000 apps, millions of songs and thousands of movies to personalise their iPads.
